AURAK celebrates Accreditation of Four Degree Programs!

The American University of Ras Al Khaimah, announced that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has awarded accreditation for its Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and its Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology. “The university is delighted that these four programs have met the Commission for Academic Accreditation requirements,” stated university president, Dr. Sharon Siverts. Licensed by the Ministry of Higher Education, the university was founded by the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi. In addition to the two engineering programs, the university offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Biotechnology and Business Administration (specializations in Finance, International Business and Marketing). Two new programs have been proposed for Fall 2010: Bachelor of Science in Management with specializations in Management Information Systems and Human Resource Management and an Master’s of Education in Educational Leadership and are awaiting accreditation review. Degrees are awarded after achieving four years of American-style higher education and meeting stated requirements. Keen to expand, additional degrees for 2011 are under consideration along with a plan for new academic space.

AURAK offers an array of scholarships including Chancellor Scholarships, available to the high achieving students. Other scholarships include those awarded for merit, program scholarships and the Ras Al Khaimah resident assistance plan.
Located just an hour north of Dubai, the American University of Ras Al Khaimah is situated on a spacious green campus. AURAK offers students a full university experience with an abundance of student activities and sports. Sports facilities include a gym, soccer field and soon, a six lane running track. Students recently moved into new on-campus residential halls with each room featuring a kitchenette, tiled bathroom, under-bed storage and balconies. North facing rooms provide magnificent views of the Jebel Hajar Mountains. The twin residence halls are separated by a circular glass multi-level student center that is due to open in late February. Wireless throughout, the student center will cater to the requirements of university students with an array of options including a copy center, book store, dining choices and a mini–market.
